What’s on in Essex? Dance Events this September & October

Whitney: Queen of the Night – Sunday 3rd September
Arriving in Essex as part of a tour directly from London’s West End, this show is a tribute to the late great Whitney Houston.
Undoubtedly one of the greatest performers of all time, the Chelmsford Theatre will see performances of some of the icon’s biggest hits including One Moment in Time, My Love is Your Love and, of course, I Wanna Dance with Somebody.
A must-see for Whitney fans, the show also includes a variety of incredible dance numbers.
The Magic of Dance with Strictly’s Vincent Simeone and Ian Waite – Thursday 7th September 2023
Strictly stars Ian Waite and Vincent Simeone have been friends for years, and now the professional dancers are bringing a show born out of this friendship, and passion for dance, to audiences across the country.
This includes here in Essex where the Chelmsford Theatre will play host to the duo as well as a variety of other exceptional dancers as they showcase a range of performances including the Samba and Argentine Tango.
An extra treat for Chelmsford includes a stunning performance from former Britain’s Got Talent champion Jai McDowall, who will display his remarkable vocals on the night.
Priscilla Queen of the Desert – Thursday 26th – Sunday 30th September
Enjoy a whole host of dance floor favourites including It’s Raining Men, Hot Stuff, Girls Just Wanna Have Fun and much more as the hit musical Priscilla Queen of the Desert arrives in Essex.
Taking place at the Chelmsford Theatre this September, this musical has been stunning audiences around the world since it first arrived on the stage in 2006.
Based on the hit 1994 film of the same name, the musical is set in Sydney and follows the journey of Tick, Bernadette and Adam as they journey across the Australian outback. Combined with contemporary music as well as stunning glitz and glamour, it’s sure to be enjoyed by everyone.
Emerald Storm – Tuesday 24th October
Colchester’s Mercury Theatre will receive the luck of the Irish this October, as the hit dance show Emerald Storm arrives in Essex.
Created by Hollywood star and dance legend Adam Garcia, the twice-Olivier award-nominated actor also stars in the show. A story based on love and the turmoil of human nature, the show features numerous Irish and modern tap performances that are professionally executed and stunningly showcased.
